Kep1er is still top tier

Only a day into the release of their new comeback album Kep1going On, the band Kep1er is climbing the iTunes charts in 12 countries. The record’s lead single, “Shooting Star,” has also broken into the top 100 real-time charts for Melon and Bugs. With an official release time of 6 PM on June 3, 2024, this a very good sign for the hotly anticipated album.

This is the group’s first full-length album roughly nine months. It’s also a sentimental one for fans: it’s the final album featuring all nine members. In May, we reported that all members of Kep1er, except Mashiro and Yeseo, renewed their contracts with WakeOne. Kep1er will thus be continuing as a 7-member ensemble after their concert in Yokohama, Japan in July 2024.

With both popularity and nostalgia on their side, the MV for "Shooting Star" has also garnered significant attention since its release, landing on YouTube's trending list and rapidly gaining traction. Capturing Kep1er's journey intertwined with the narrative of chasing dreams against the backdrop of a falling meteor, the video perfectly complements the song's rhythmic beats and emotive synth lines, enhancing its overall impact.

Reflecting on their album preparation, the members expressed their heartfelt sentiments during the showcase, conveying their eagerness to share their hard work and performances with their fans. They emphasized their gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect with their supporters, highlighting the joy of being back in their presence.

It’ll be bittersweet to watch the original version of Kep1er take the world by storm one last time.
