You know the song is going to slap when it kicks off and wins you over with nothing but the instrumental hook, which in this case features a bumping bass line, funk guitar, a straightforward disco beat supplemented with bongos and tambourine, and one of the best synth leads I’ve heard in a while. This is a glitzy, shimmery, dancy track that swirls in deep purples and neon.
“LOVE NOTE!” is a 2022 single from indie pop artist Nahee, and it simultaneously feels retro while feeling fresh and futuristic. The synth flutes half way through feel like an updated take on those found in “The Hustle” by Van McCoy. Nahee’s vocals themselves feel timeless – catchy and sweet while maintaining an aura of mystery.
Sadly, Nahee herself passed away in November of 2023. This single is a testament to the fact that we lost a phenomenal musician way too soon. Her final album, the posthumous Ending, dropped June 2, 2024.
