4Minute - Redefining Girl Crush in K-pop

4Minute turned heads in the K-pop scene with their fierce "girl crush" concept that deeply resonated with fans worldwide. Formed under Cube Entertainment, the group consisted of members Jihyun, Gayoon, Jiyoon, Hyuna, and Sohyun, each bringing their unique flair to the stage.

Debuting on June 15, 2009, with their spicy single "Hot Issue," 4Minute didn’t just enter the K-pop arena; they took control, absolutely lighting it up. Before their debut the group was actually known as the “Hyuna group” as they announced their first member to be Kim Hyuna, former member of Wonder Girls. What a crazy lineup to open up with.

Throughout their career, 4Minute made legendary records, touring worldwide and constantly topping the charts. From their Korean album "4Minutes Left" in 2011 to theirJapanese album "Diamond" in 2010, they consistently pushed boundaries and won accolades like the Rookie Award at the Golden Disc Awards.

Memorable moments include their smash hit "What's Your Name?" topping Korean charts and their infectious summer anthem "Is It Poppin'?" making waves internationally. These milestones and more not only solidified their place in K-pop history but also showcased their versatility and global appeal.

Looking back, 4Minute's journey was about more than just music; it was about redefining what it meant to be a "girl crush" in K-pop. Though they disbanded in 2016, their impact lives on.

Jihyun, lead dancer and visual has gone on to be a successful actor and singer. Gayoon, main vocalist, went on to receive a degree in Film and Theatre and is now a top actress in Korea. Jiyoon, lead rapper, left Cube Entertainment and joined JS E&M as a soloist, releasing several banger singles. Hyuna, main dancer, rapper and face of the group has continued shaking up the music scene with hit song after song. And finally Sohyun, the group’s leader dancer and maknae also went on to pursue acting, landing some awesome roles in recent years.
