The K-pop scene at Coachella 2024 was electrifying, showcasing several groups' global appeal to an American audience. The most notable K-pop groups that performed during Coachella were Ateez, LE SSERAFIM, and The Rose. Despite any language barrier, each group performed outstanding sets that generated excitement and buzz both onsite and online.
ATEEZ
ATEEZ made history last month as the first K-pop boy group to perform at Coachella. Their performance could be considered the very epitome of K-pop. It was dynamic and full of energy, and they showcased their incredible choreography and stage presence.

LE SSERAFIM
Unfortunately, LE SSERAFIM's Coachella debut got off to a rocky start due to technical difficulties. Fans noted the mix between the music tracks and singers’ vocals was uneven, which made it difficult to hear the vocals.
Setbacks aside, LE SSERAFIM was able to break out of their shell and express themselves in ways that can often be difficult for stars to do so in Korea’s media ecosystem. In spite of initial backlash on social media, LE SSERAFIM’s performance was exhilarating, providing half an hour of tight choreography and stunning visuals.

Ode to BLACKPINK
With K-pop becoming a more common presence at festivals, we would be remiss to not pay homage to the group that made a lasting impression on the world: BLACKPINK. In 2023, BLACKPINK headlined at Coachella as a stop along their world tour. BLACKPINK gave us new performances on a variety of their songs including Jennie's performance of a remix of her unreleased song “You and Me”, and Lisa’s showcase of an explicit version of her solo “Money”. BLACKPINK was able to make history and pave the way for K-pop girl groups like LE SSERAFIM by being the first K-pop girl group to headline at Coachella. The group took both the stage and internet by storm by representing 78% of Coachella mentions across social media. 2023 Coachella was dubbed ‘Pinkchella’ by BLACKPINK and fans due to these successes.
