PRYVT Return with Brooding New Single “NEXT TO ME, AGAIN” Ahead of Sophomore Album
by Hasan Beyaz

Emerging Canadian-Korean indie-rock duo PRYVT have unveiled their latest single, “NEXT TO ME, AGAIN,” accompanied by a striking music video. The track blends lush production with a warm, driving undercurrent, pairing intimate vocal delivery with instrumentation that swells with urgency as the song progresses.
“This song portrays the state of mind and emotion of someone in a toxic relationship — wanting to leave but not being able to. It keeps them in a constant loop of regret and empathy,” the duo shares.
The track will feature on PRYVT’s highly anticipated second studio album, BACK TO REALITY, arriving on November 14 via AWAL. Written and produced by members Sam Hanuel and Justin “JT” Tecson, the duo has continued to refine a sound that feels at home onstage yet fully expressive on record. From bold rockers to dreamy atmospherics, the new material picks up where their 2024 debut &SCENE left off, offering a more cohesive sonic vision rooted in natural imagery and musical nostalgia.
Hanuel explains, “It pairs with our overall message of the power of love and how its tight grip on us can control the good, the bad, the ugly and the beauty. Moments are captured like Polaroids, freezing emotions exactly as they were felt in that instant. It’s this gut feeling that fuels our visual imagery, with intentional details woven into everything from the music videos to the album’s design.”
PRYVT will support the release with a handful of live dates, including New York’s Baby’s All Right on December 3, Los Angeles’ Moroccan Lounge on December 5, and a festival set at Streets, Eats, and Beats in Phoenix on November 29.
The duo’s story is as compelling as their music. Formed online in 2023 after connecting on Discord, Hanuel and JT came from strikingly different musical backgrounds — one raised on worship music and Korean ballads, the other steeped in jazz and electronic production. Their shared burnout from solo careers sparked a collaborative energy that has defined PRYVT’s growing discography.
Songs often slip between English and Korean, yet their emotional resonance is universal, capturing longing, heartbreak, desire, and growth. With &SCENE, they invited listeners to piece together a story through each single, a strategy that built a dedicated, investigative fanbase – and their next album looks set to delight their growing fanbase once more.
