Meet The Member: An Interview with IDID’s Jeong Semin – The Fan Magnet With Perfect Pitch

by Hasan Beyaz

To celebrate IDID’s official debut, we caught up with each member individually.

Curious and outgoing, Jeong Semin has earned nicknames like Pupchick and Lil’ Cavy that reflect his playful energy. With perfect pitch, he’s also one of IDID’s quiet musical backbones, naturally guiding practices and keeping harmonies tight. Already described as a “fan magnet,” Semin thrives on connection — grateful for the support that helped him debut, and eager to return that love with authenticity and joy.

1. You’ve got nicknames like Pupchick and Lil’ Cavy — what do you think these nicknames say about your personality?

The nicknames were given because I'm a very curious person and don’t mind trying new things. I’m also not shy and get along with people easily so it’s similar in that way.

2. With perfect pitch, do you find yourself naturally guiding the group vocally in rehearsals?

I can tell which pitch is wrong as soon as I hear it so it comes in handy during practice.

3. You’re described as a “fan magnet.” What’s one thing you’d like to tell fans directly as debut begins?

I always remind myself that I was able to debut because of the love that our fans showed me. I’ll do my best to return that overwhelming love with even greater love in everything I do.

4. As one of the younger members, what have you learned from your older teammates so far?

I learned that being patient and practicing regularly will lead to significant improvements.

5. ENFP/ESFP types thrive on connection — what’s been your most unforgettable fan interaction yet?

I haven’t had many chances to talk to our fans but I remember having a small talk with them while pre-recording the performance for the broadcast program.
