Meet The Member: An Interview with IDID’s Park Seonghyeon – The Hip-Hop Cat and Group Mood Maker

by Hasan Beyaz

To celebrate IDID’s official debut, we caught up with each member individually.

Park Seonghyeon, or IDID’s “hip-hop cat,” lives up to the name with his mix of sharp style, rap energy, and feline presence. A trained street dancer since childhood, he brings a raw power to the group’s stages while balancing it with a lighter role as the group’s mood maker. Whether cracking jokes during tough practices or setting his sights on bigger stages, Seonghyeon embodies drive, spirit, and playfulness in one.

1. You’re called the “hip-hop cat.” Where does that nickname come from, and how do you embody it?

I got the nickname because I like hip street style, listen to rap music, and my position in IDID is a rapper. Also, our fans often tell me that I look like a cat, so with that combined, I go by ‘Hip-Hop Cat’ whenever I introduce myself to others.

2. As the mood maker, what’s your secret to lifting everyone’s spirits during tough practices?

I try to ease the mood with a fun joke whenever the members seem tired.

3. Your street dance style is very powerful. How did you shape that style, and how does it show in I did it.?

I learned street style dancing when I was in elementary school. I was very interested in dancing so I studied different styles and improved my skills. Our fans will get to see the dancing skills I developed.

4. Which song in the album made you feel most connected to IDID’s identity and why?

I believe ‘CHAN-RAN’ connects with our identity the most - even if we fall and get hurt, we just accept it as part of us.

5. ENTJs are known for their drive — what’s one goal you’re already setting your eyes on after debut?

I hope to give positive energy to our fans through good performances, and want to experience more stages with the members.
