Meet The Member: An Interview with IDID’s Baek Junhyuk – The Mischievous Youngest With Shark Energy
by Hasan Beyaz

To celebrate IDID’s official debut, we caught up with each member individually.
The youngest of IDID, Baek Junhyuk is known as the mischievous “hip-hop shark” — playful on the surface but with plenty of bite and ambition underneath. A strong dancer and vocalist, he thrives on bringing explosive energy to tracks like “CHAN-RAN,” while also revealing a more reflective, serious side that he hopes fans will see over time. Whether in the water or on stage, freedom and excitement define his flow.
1. You’re nicknamed the “hip-hop shark.” What side of you does that name capture?
The style I seek is Hip-Hop, and our fans call me a ‘shark’ because I look like a shark - so combined with both, it’s Hip-Hop shark.
2. You’re the youngest but also known for being mischievous. What’s one funny behind-the-scenes moment from debut prep?
We like to play around very much but I can’t really pinpoint any behind-the-scenes episodes that happened because we were mischievous. All of our fun episodes came from little accidents that occurred naturally.
3. Swimming is your talent — does being in water give you the same kind of freedom you feel on stage?
Yes, you can go anywhere in water, and sometimes it feels like I am floating in the air. That’s what makes it feel similar – being free on stage and being in the water.
4. Which part of the debut album feels like it best captures your energy?
In our focus track of the debut album, I got to sing the last chorus of ‘CHAN-RAN’, which is the most exciting line from the entire track. I poured all my energy into the song to bring out the excitement so our fans can feel that vibe when they listen to the song.
5. What do you want fans to discover about you beyond the mischievous image?
I have both a mischievous and serious side to me. Our fans might not have seen it yet but I hope they get to see the unexpected sides of me in the near future.
